Prayer Interrupted at the Holocaust and Humanity Center

  • Reakirt Auditorium at Cincinnati Union Terminal 1301 Western Avenue Cincinnati, OH, 45214 United States (map)

In a first of its kind collaboration between Cincinnati Song Initiative, The Cincinnati Holocaust and Humanity Center, and Hebrew Union College’s Klau Library, Simon Barrad will present an original program of music by Jewish composers in and around the Holocaust. The songs will be punctuated by liturgical music found in the world renowned Birnbaum collection of music manuscripts housed at Cincinnati’s own Klau Library at Hebrew Union College, and quotes from local survivors will bring listeners into the world in which the music was created. This concert will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the death camp at Auschwitz, and also celebrate the one year anniversary of the Holocaust and Humanity Center’s move to Cincinnati’s Union Terminal.

Ken Griffiths plays piano with Simon, and the concert will take place at Reakirt Auditorium located in Cincinnati’s historic Union Terminal.
